For over 14 years at the zenith of Sun Microsystem’s power in the industry, RL | A was the main corporate storyteller and producer of original content: working with the main C-level Executives and Distinguished Engineers at Sun, in a long term “Master Vendor” contracted position. In order to communicate the executive vision, we made over 100 short films. These videos were shown at product launches, corporate stockholder meetings, executive retreats, management workshops and in training settings. These videos built the brand from the inside and set new standards for corporate culture.
RL | A conceived of and brought to life a new Corporate Communications channel concept for Sun, which we called “Digital Journey: Stories From a Networked Planet.” This channel included an internationally broadcast television series (Emmy® Award Winner), web content for www.sun.com, and briefing materials for visiting executives.
RL | A created Digital Journey: Stories from a Networked Planet as a 39 part collection of shorts, filmed around the world, that aired over 4000 times on public television stations, on TVO Canada, CCTV, China, and CNN Europe.
Videos and web content developed included several long and short form documentary films which helped open the door for Sun doing business in China, P.R.C., including “East Meets West, Developing the Internet in China”, “e-Commerce in China”, “Building e-Commerce in China”, and “Western Venture Capital in China”.
Series episodes won multiple awards, including the Emmy®, 2 Cindy’s, 2 Golden Angels, a Silver Screen, and a Telly.
